This paper presents the results of an analysis of the mechanism by which distortions are produced in laser mirrors by the thermal action of a coolant with a time-variable temperature. Methods are determined for reducing such distortions. A description is given of the thermally invariant design of a laser mirror that possesses enhanced stability against the thermal action of the coolant. A technique is described for comparative tests of mirrors with the thermally invariant design and the basic design, and the results are presented.
