Atorque wrench is a tool we don’t use daily or even weekly. But when it’s needed, the instrument is essential for torquing down fasteners like head bolts or lugs.Yet torque wrenches are not just another ratchet wrench. Actually, they should never be used as the primary means of tightening or loosening bolts and nuts, warns Christopher Roland of Chicago Pneumatic. Instead, start fasteners by hand until they meet resistance. Use a ratchet to make solid contact, and then go with a torque wrench to tighten to the prescribed torque standard.
