With the hindsight afforded us by the devastation in Japan during 2011 's horrific earthquake, it's clear reconstruction efforts in Turkey need to be mobilised as quickly as possible, to prevent further unnecessary suffering. The Turkish government says that, in one year, it will build almost half a million homes to house those most affected by the earthquake devastation. This may seem an undeliverable promise, but, as we saw with the collapsed Genoa bridge in Italy, ambitious programmes, combined with dedication of construction professionals, can produce momentous results.
