Special Section On Recent Progress Of High-density Information Storage

摘要

The 8th Asian Symposium on Information Storage Technology (ASIST-8) was held at the Waseda University in Tokyo, from November 9-10, 2006. This is the successful inheritance of previous seven symposia after the interruption for 2003-2005. This special section entitled "Recent Progress of High-Density Information Storage" was aimed to publish papers selected mainly from the works appeared in the last ASIST-8. The storage technology, to which the symposium was dedicated, is a growing field that includes a wide variety of technological aspects such as magnetic recording, magneto-optical recording, optical recording and other novel information storage materials and devices. The symposium is sponsored by the Magnetic Recording & Information Storage Group of the Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE), Japan, the Technical Group of Multi-Media Storage of the Institute of Image Information and Television Engineers (ITE), Japan, the Japan Chapter of the IEEE Magnetics Society, and the Consolidated Research Institute for Advanced Science and Medical Care, Waseda University.
