With its sleek, futurist, contoured lines, elegant passenger cabin and advanced cockpit, the HX50 is one of the most eye-catching aircraft in development. Created by Hill Helicopters, based in Rugeley, Staffordshire, this stylish-looking five-seat, 500hp turbine-powered machine is scheduled to fly during this summer, with certification and first customer delivery following a year later. Three aircraft will be built initially to support flight testing, then two more. The company aims to start ground-running prototypes later this year ahead of the first flight. It believes the HX50offers anew beginning for privately owned civil light helicopters, with style, speed, efficiency, comfort and advanced technology. Mischa Gelb, an ambassador for Hill Helicopters and responsible for the company's sales and marketing, told Aviation News: "When it comes to helicopter design, there are so many questions left unanswered and there's so much more operators wish they could have."
