Europe is unlikely to experience significant gas supply shortages this winter, but prices will remain volatile because of a tight supply-demand balance, industry executives told the Energy Intelligence Forum in London. "Europe is in a much better place than last year, but there's a lot of variables around the gas market at the moment, " Equinor CEO Anders Opedal said in a keynote speech on Tuesday. The region's gas prices are likely to fluctuate, as Europe competes with Asia for LNG supplies, and demand is shaped by the weather and the availability of intermittent renewable power, Opedal added.
