The process of compiling the backup documentation for the National Committee for Quality Assurance tool-let alone redesigning a practice-is estimated to require about eighty person-hours of work. As we acknowledged in our article, the method of using the tool without complete documentation does potentially limit the accuracy of the assessments. However, this method's lower time burden allowed a large proportion of one metropolitan area's community health centers to participate in the study.
