I thank Cozzi et al.1 for their interest in my letter. They point out that after uninephrectomy, glomerular filtration rate (GFR) may fall to levels that have been associated with increased cardiovascular risk and mortality in population studies. Thus, they worry that compared with matched healthy controls, many living kidney donors are at increased risk for cardiovascular disease and death, as well as for end-stage kidney disease (ESRD).
