Studies on the simultaneous attack of wheat by the cereal aphid Sitobion avenae (Fabr.) and the wheat glume blotch Septoria nodorum Berk

The effects of combined attack of wheat by Sitobion avenae and Septoria nodorum [Leptosphaeria nodorum] were studied in Germany from 1985 to 1988. In all years, the pathogen caused the greatest decrease in grain weight/ear, number of grains/ear and1000-grain weight. The effect of aphid attack was much weaker. Simultaneous attack by both organisms caused additive losses in only a few cases. Germination was affected slightly by L. nodorum only.
