Atavistic cancer model: A new theory of cancer?

While working on a lecture to medical students on the subject of oncology I came across an 'idea' that has had me captivated since then. It lays the ground for a completely different way to view cancer. What makes the 'idea' even more captivating is that it is being propagated by two non-oncologists. To be more precise, its main advocates are not even physicians; they are astrophysicists!
