Research on firefly squid (Watasenia scintillans) of Toyama Bay was began in 1905 by Dr. Shozaburo Watase. Uozu Aquarium was founded in Toyama prefecture in 1913 and has the longest history among Japanese aquariums. So, many firefly squid researchers visited Uozu Aquarium so far. The history of Uozu Aquarium over three generations and research on firefly squid at Uozu Aquarium are introduced in this article.
