India and Russia are seeking to expand trade and economic ties beyond supplies of Russian crude oil to India, according to officials from both countries meeting in I ndia this week. India has taken advantage of deep price discounts for Russian crude to ramp up its purchases to almost 2 million barrels per day over the last year, after importing only modest volumes before Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Russian I ndustry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov noted on Tuesday that the value of bilateral trade rose 2.6 times to $35 billion last year.
