Gulf coast prices fall

US product prices were mixed, as imports rose and flag- ging demand saw inventories rise. Distillate and gasoline prices were mostly weaker in the US Gulf coast market amid plentiful supply, but tighter availabilities helped cap losses in the New York Harbor market. Limited arbitrage outlets weighed on fuel oil. Gasoline prices were mixed. Values fell on the Gulf coast as low demand led to a 500,000 bl increase in gasoline inventories in the week to 8 July. Prices for conventional gasoline rose in the Atlantic coast market, but blendstock values fell amid a spike in blending component imports. Rising prices for conventional gasoline helped open the arbi- trage from the Gulf coast to New York Harbor. Rbob fell in the Gulf coast and east coast markets, and the arbitrage between the two regions remained open.
