The study was conducted to see the effect of Jatropha integrima on physical properties of cotton fabric. Fabric was desized, scoured and bleached. Tannic acid treatment was given to bleached fabric to improve its affinity for dye. The premordanted cotton fabric samples with three different concentrations of Tin (SnCl_2) and iron (FeSO_4) were dyed in prepared dye bath for one hour. Tensile strength increased except 1 per cent Tin (SnCl_2) in warp direction and decreased in weft direction when compared to original. Loss in strength in weft direction may be due to swelling of fibre. However, the loss was very minimal. Elongation per cent decreased in 1 and 3 per cent of Tin in warp and weft direction. Whereas the fabric dyed with 1,3 and 5 per cent of iron and 5 per cent of Tin showed increase in elongation. Flexural rigidity increased in all cases of Tin and Iron except 3 per cent of Tin. Jatropha integrima mordanted with Tin and Iron with premordanting method and dyed had no adverse effect on physical properties of dyed fabric rather they improved when compared to original (bleached) hence recommended for use.
