This special issue of InnovAiT is on the topic of women's health, and all of the clinical feature articles have been commissioned by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Not all GPs receive much training on women's health, which is also an area under-represented in the Quality and Outcomes Framework, and so it is very satisfying to be able to bring these articles together in one issue. We have a diverse range of articles this month, with topics including breast cancer and breast lumps, polycys-tic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), heavy menstrual bleeding, psychosexual medicine and three articles relating to antenatal care.Lumps in the breast are common, with more than 90% of patients who attend their GP with breast problems having benign conditions, and it can be challenging to identify those with potential malignancy. The article on breast lumps highlights that lumpiness is common, and that breast pain itself is not usually a feature of cancer. But don't forget in the history to check for nulliparity, lack of breast feeding and history of use of hormone replacement therapy - all risk factors for breast cancer.
