Methods of reducing vibration and underwater radiated noise caused by machinery mounted on a ship are usually adopted after the ship has constructed. If the levels of vibration and underwater noise were able to be estimated accurately using numerical analysis, more effective noise reduction method could he proposed. As the first step of such numerical analysis, calculation of natural frequencies of a full-scale ship was conducted using F.E.M., furthermore the estimation of vibration and underwater acoustic power level of the hull were carried out using S.E.A. This paper presents an overview of numerical analysis examples related to the ship.
