Fuel oil expor ts fall in first quar ter

Russian fuel oil exports in the first quarter of 2016 fell by just under a third compared with the same period a year earlier, to 11.7mn t. Rosneft fuel oil exports in January- March decreased by 15pc from a year earlier, to 5.6mn t. Exports from the company's refineries in Russia's far east region - Angarsk, Achinsk and Komsomolsk - declined by 14pc to 1.4mn t. Trading company Mercuria Energy was the main buyer of Rosneft fuel oil, exporting cargoes to China. But Chinese fuel oil demand has fallen sharply, leaving Mercuria struggling to shift its volumes, according to market participants.
