Transneft cool on Arctic route

Transneft has rejected a proposed pipe- line from the Zapolyarye oil field, in Yamal-Nenets district, to Tadebyayakha on Ob bay — dubbed the Arctic route. There is surplus capacity on other routes and not enough crude is availa- ble to fill a new line, it says. The pipeline could be built only once development is under way at new fields in the north of Yamal-Nenets and in the Kara Sea, Transneft strategic development director Rasim Mingazet- dinov told the company’s expert board on 11 March.
