ISR Trans sets sights on SG-Trans

Rail operator ISR Trans is interested in buying a 50pc stake in the owner of Russia’s largest LPG tankcar fleet, SG- Trans, from AFK Sistema. A merger of ISR Trans, which controls more than 14,000 oil tankcars, and SG-Trans would create the coun- try’s third-largest tankcar owner-operator, after PGK and Transoil. The deal could be worth Rbs6bn ($90m), a source familiar with the negotiations says — significantly less than AFK Sistema and Vector Rail paid when they took SG- Trans private in 2012. ISR Trans could fund the deal with loans from a number of unnamed banks, the source says.
