Vitol eyes Ust-Luga naphtha

Trading company Vitol is expected to take a long-term lease on the Sibur terminal at the Russian Baltic port of Ust-Luga early this year. Vitol wants to lease the 2.5mn t/yr terminal for seven years to load naphtha, traders say. The outlet handled 184,000 t/month of naphtha produced by Sibur itself and Gazprom’s 256,000 b/d Salavat refinery in 2014. Sibur will retain the right to load some of its own naphtha at Ust-Luga. In October, Russia’s energy ministry urged firms to step up supplies through the ports of Ust-Luga, Primorsk, Novorossiysk and St Petersburg and to reduce their shipments through the Latvian ports of Riga and Ventspils. Vitol currently ships products through its own Ventspils Nafta terminal and also leases capacity at the Ventall and Ventbunkers terminals, also in Ventspils.
