Irtysh River Shipping steps up overhaul drive

Irtysh River Shipping (IRSC) is to modernise two 2,100t Lenaneft-type tankers before 2016 summer naviga- tion begins, as it strives to comply with the ban on single-hull vessels from January 2018. Both tankers will be equipped with double bottoms and double hulls. IRSC has only upgraded six of its 20 Lenaneft tankers so far. Last year, IRSC came under the control of Mezhregionflot, which bought 25.5pc from the state and an extra 58pc from IRSC management.
