Rates to reflect lower fuel prices

Worldscale’s estimate of bunker costs, used to calculate flat rates, will fall sharply next year. From 1 January, the estimated cost of 380cst 3.5pc high-sulphur bunker fuel included in WS rates will fall by 40pc to $367.55/t. The estimate for 0.1pc fuel will fall by 36pc to $589.53/t in the Baltic and North Sea sulphur emissions control area (SECA). The changes will reflect the big fall in shipowners’ bunker fuel costs.
