HER2 status in rarer histologic types of gastric adenocarcinomas

To the Editor.—We greatly appreciated the Resident Short Review "HER2eu gene amplification and protein over-expression in gastric and gastroesoph-ageal junction adenocarcinoma/'1 and we would like to discuss HER2 status in rarer histologic types of gastric adenocarcinomas.It was reported that 100% of papillary carcinomas of the stomach are positive for HER2 overexpression compared with only 20.6% of tubular carcinomas2; nevertheless, another study described a complete lack of HER2 overexpression in a series of 11 cases of the micropapillary variant of gastric carcinoma.
