IBM's vision for the future in patient-centric global health care: IBM's vision of how advanced health analytics and automated health information infrastructure will transform anatomic pathology services.

The discussions at the Futurescape of Pathology Conference exemplify what we at IBM (Armonk, NY) and others have learned-that the health care market is a very complex ecosystem and that health care today is under-going a significant transformation. We have learned that we must work together in partnership with fellow vendors such as General Electric (Fairfield, Conn) and Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc (Malvern, Pa) and others who have some of the best of breed global health care application solutions from a domain expertise, along with other IBM partners who have the key information technology (IT) that can enable those applications to achieve their full value and return on investment. I describe some of the solutions addressing IT challenges that can enhance these emerging applications in anatomic pathology.
