Record crude shipments continue to flow east in response to ever higher Asia-Pacific refinery runs. Eastbound liftings from the Mideast Gulf and west Africa reached 14.8mn b/d in January, consultancy Oil Movements says, an increase of 700,000 b/d over January last year. And there is no sign of any change in direction this quarter. Argus puts February liftings to Asia from west Africa at a new high of 1.9mn b/d, led by demand from China and India. And eastbound Mideast Gulf sales of 13mn b/d are near record highs.
