CME to delist heating oil futures in 2013

Nymex owner CME Group will discontinue heating oil futures when the April 2013 contract expires. The exchange will replace the benchmark contract with 10ppm sulphur diesel futures to reflect changes in the northeast US market. Nymex's New York Harbor heating oil futures contract is the benchmark for nearly 4mn b/d of US distillates trade. But heating oil represents less than 15pc of US demand, and just 35pc of the Atlantic coast market, where most of the product is consumed.
