Fuel oil price rises lagged strong gains for other European products amid a lack of export opportunities. Higher demand for heating oil and motor fuels lifted gasoline and middle distillate refining margins.Gasoline rose, as protracted refinery maintenance kept the Mediterranean market tight and offset the unprofitability of shipping gasoline to the US or east of Suez. Nigeria was looking for supplies, although European suppliers are cautious over the eventual size of the country's fourth-quarter import requirements.
