Indian buying rose to a record 550,000 b/d for October, at the same time as Chinese buying of west African crude dropped to its lowest level in a year at just over 610,000 b/d. A total of 1.35mn b/d is moving to Asia-Pacific from west Africa in October, up by around 170,000 b/d from a month earlier. Chinese refiners scaled back west African crude imports after the Beijing Olympics in August, as oil inventories were plentiful after the stockpiling of crude and products in the first half of this year.
