Mild temperatures and a steep fall in natural gas prices hit demand for heating oil,and distillates prices dropped sharply as a result.For the first time since early October,gasoline prices were higher than distillates,giving refiners an incentive to reconfigure production and build gasoline inventories before summer.Milder weather and cheaper natural gas have hampered demand for heating,leading to a build in heating oil inventories and a steep decline in prices.Diesel prices also fell sharply under pressure from lower heating oil prices.
