Canada is a growing supplier of crude to the US,but the complexity of producing and transporting greater volumes from its oil sands makes supplies vulnerable to more constraints than conventional oil.Production of bitumen from oil sands has risen by 400,000 b/d to 1mn b/d in the past five years,with most going to the US after processing.
