The transport ministry’s draft sea port infrastructure development strategy envisages freight turnover nearly doubling to 1.06bn t/yr by 2030 from last year’s 589mn t, with capacity growing by 50pc to 1.3bn t/yr. Combined crude, products, LPG and LNG loadings are expected to rise by 151mn t to 484mn t in 2030, with dry cargo loadings hitting 517mn t, up from last year’s 256mn t.
