Transneft hits the accelerator

Transneft plans to launch the 900,000 b/d Zapolyarye-Purpe (Z-P)pipeline ahead of schedule in the first quarter of 2016, rather than the fourth quarter.But the line will remain half full for 1-2 years because development of the fields that will feed it is not progressing as swiftly as Transneft expected. The firm is laying the 520km line,which will link new Yamal-Nenets fields with the East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO)route,at a cost of$6.5bn.The Messoyakh fields,co-owned by Rosneft and Gazpromneft,and the giant Russkoye field and the smaller Russko-Rechenskoye fields,owned by Rosneft,will be Z-P’s main crude sources,with the Mes-soyakh group alone due to provide 8mn t/yr(160,000 b/d)in 2020.Z-P is also expected to take crude from fields devel-oped by the Novatek-Gazpromneft Severenergia consortium and Novatek’s Yarudeiskoye field.
