Delivery of the 25MW icebreaker Viktor Chernomyrdin, which Russia’s federal ports agency Rosmorport was expecting to receive in December 2015, will be delayed by about one and a half years, deputy transport minister Victor Olersky announced on 20 May. The hull of the Viktor Chernomyrdin has been under construction at St Petersburg’s Baltiysky Shipyard since October 2012, while the fully fitted deckhouse of the vessel is being build at Germany’s Nordic Yards, which is controlled by the Russian businessman Vitaly Yusufov. Olersky said the delay stemmed from a problem at Nordic Yards, and that although a solution has now been found, the vessel will be delayed. The Viktor Chernomyrdin is now 13.61pc complete.
