St Petersburg-based river shipper Kontur has taken delivery of two new vessels. Kontur bought the two 3,300t ore-and-oil carriers — Nefterudovoz-47M, built in 1984, and SGV-Flot, formerly named Nefterudovoz-40M and built in 1981 — from Samara Shipping in September last year, after Kontur’s parent firm the Baltic Fuel Company bought Samara Ship- ping. The purchase was driven by Kontur’s plans to increase river supplies. The St Petersburg-based firm now has eight vessels that can be used for exports — four tug-barge units, two Volgon- eft-type tankers, and the two ore-and-oil carriers. The new vessels are mainly used under short-term lease, handling exports and domestic deliveries, general-director Stanislav Korneyev says.
