Three ways to China

Russia’s state-controlled Rosneft is considering three potential routes along which to export the extra 9mn t/yr (180,000 b/d) of crude to China provisionally agreed in February, sources familiar with the issue say. The three options that are currently under consideration are — upping crude supplies through the East Siberia- Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline spur to China from Skovorodino in east Siberia; boosting seaborne crude supplies from the Kozmino terminal on Russia’s Pacific coast; and shipping crude by pipeline through Kazakhstan. Rosneft plans to sign a crude supply contract with China’s statecontrolled Sinopec this month, as well as a deal to boost exports to China’s state-owned CNPC. The extra supplies were agreed during Rosneft chief executive Igor Sechin’s visit to China in February.
