Siberian Light exports from Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk could hit 6mn-6.5mn t (125,000-135,000 b/d) in 2017, up by at least 50pc on this year’s forecast, if Kashagan crude starts flowing through Transneft’s pipeline system. Transneft and shareholders in NCOC, which operates the 13bn bl Kazakh offshore field, are in talks on supplies of up to 2mn t/yr by pipeline for export as Siberian Light next year. Segregated supply of Kashagan crude through the Atyrau-Samara pipeline for onward delivery to Novorossiysk is also being considered, although it is unclear whether this is technically feasible.
