Dredging up new possibilities

The Riga port administration finished dredging last month that will allow larger tankers to call at the Latvian port’s three key oil terminals. The dredging deepened the area near the wall of berth ZO-18 by 1.5m to 16m, allowing it to accommodate vessels of up to 120,000t, rather than the previous maximum of 70,000t. This berth is used by the Naftimpeks terminal, which specialises in loading clean products, as well as the terminals owned by Norwegian Statoil and Finland’s Neste Oil, which import motor fuels.
