Ice breakers delivered

Russia’s Vyborg Shipyard, part of state- controlled United Shipbuilding, has completed the first of the three new 18MW diesel-electric icebreakers for delivery to the country’s state-owned port agency, Rosmorport. The Vladivostok was delivered last month and the second, Murmansk, will be delivered in December. A third ice- breaker, Novorossiysk, is scheduled for delivery to Rosmorport before the end of next year. For now, Vladivostok is Russia’s most powerful diesel-electric icebreaker — used for escorting large vessels in freezing ports.
