Aframax freight rates in the Baltic fell by just WS0.3 from January-March to WS101.31 in the second quarter. Rates did not exceed WS57-80 in April-June last year. Demand for 25,000-45,000t MR tankers and 20,000-25,000t Handy- sizes is still high in the Baltic. “Small dirty product cargoes are more and more popular. It has been difficult to charter Handysizes for the past two weeks, none were available,” a ship- ping source says.
