The basic price of a new tank-container is $18,000-26,000, although more complex models can cost $100,000-150,000. Most of the Russian fleet was manufactured by China’s CIMC Enric, the world’s largest tank-container manufacturer, with eight plants in China. It produced 23,000 in 2014, 3,000 more than in the previous year. Russia has no large tank-container manufacturers — this is not a core business for the country’s railcar plants. Conse- quently, domestically manufactured tank-containers are much more expensive than those made in China.
