Weaker prices hit refinery output

Gasoline prices led product losses,and refinery margins across the country plummeted.Gasoline and distillates production dropped on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts,and refinery throughput rates fell by more than 730,000 b/d to 87pc of capacity.Independent refiner Tesoro is cutting runs in the first quarter.West coast refinery margins were hardest hit,and gasoline crack spreads turned negative.
