Rotterdam speeds up VLCC loading process

The port of Rotterdam is opening new facilities for ship-to-ship(STS)transfers that could improve the economics of shipping fuel oil to Asia-Pacific.The facilities open to very large crude carrier(VLCC)traffic at the end of this month.The port has built 12 fixed mooring points at Rotterdam that make it possible to load up to three VLCCs a week using STS transfers,say port officials,the equivalent of about 700,000 b/d.
