Heating oil rose ahead of the peak winter demand season and moderate agricultural demand in the midcontinent provided some boost for diesel.But gasoline prices fell as a result of high stocks and falling demand.Heating oil prices rose,with inventories falling relative to their five-year average.Premiums for ultra-low sulphur diesel(ULSD)to low-sulphur diesel(LSD)narrowed on the Gulf coast as fears abated of a messy transition to ULSD at the retail level on 15 October.LSD trade remains liquid in most regions,even though refinery output has declined enormously.In the midcontinent,demand from the agricultural sector,which can still use LSD,and slower retail level preparations pushed LSD to slight premiums to ULSD.
