Direct synthesis of vinyl sulfones from alkenes and sulfonyl chlorides through a visible-light-induced photocatalytic approach has been developed. According to our research, nano Cu2O/TiO2 was well-established in photocatalytic processes and now it was shown to be more efficient in the mentioned reaction and also opened up new routes for photocatalysis reactions. Moreover, the semiconductors and their composites such as nano Cu2O/TiO2 surpassed commonly used ruthenium, iridium, or organic dye-based photocatalysts, because of their economic efficiency and high efficiency in absorbing visible light. In the present study, nano Cu2O/TiO2 as a photocatalyst proceeded with the reaction at room temperature under white LED illumination and air atmosphere. High eco-sustainability, low cost, and ease of operation are all essential characteristics of the created method.
