US diesel demand to outpace other fuels

US diesel demand is expected to grow by 2.8pc in the fourth quarter compared with a year earlier,when consumption was depressed after major hurricanes on the US Gulf coast,according to US EIA officials.The diesel demand projection is higher than expected growth of 1.5pc in gasoline demand in the same period.Diesel demand growth will slow to 1.1 pc in the first quarter of 2007 compared with a year earlier,which would be slower than gasoline demand growth of 1.4pc.Diesel consumption next year will grow by 1.8pc compared with 2006,after rising by 3pc/yr in 2001-05.
