Unplanned US shutdowns overshadow turnaround schedules

Turnarounds will shut over 300,000 b/d of North American crude distillation capacity in the third quarter of this year, and 100,000 b/d in the fourth quarter - significantly less than in the first half of 2006. Maintenance is seen peaking in August, with little capacity due to be in turnaround by November-December. But turnarounds schedules have been overshadowed by unplanned shutdowns since the second half of last year.
