Steeper Norwegian decline leads North Sea output fall

North Sea crude and condensate output fell by 185,000 b/d in the third quarter compared with a year earlier. Production was just above 3.5mn b/d, a record low from the province's 1999 peak, largely because of a big drop in output from fields in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Extensive maintenance at Canadian firm Nexen's 215,000 b/d Buzzard field - the region's largest - further cut third-quarter production.
