US energy officials expect oil prices to fall from present levels, and say that speculators rushing into commodities markets are at least partly to blame for crude benchmarks above 100/bl."There has clearly been a surge in money coming into commodities markets, including energy, which has had some upward effect on the price above the trend line," EIA director Guy Caruso told US senators on 4 March. Market fundamentals indicate that US light crude prices should be closer to 90/bl, he said.
