Economic fears hit futures

WTI and Brent futures tumbled by about 7pc,both settling more than 5/bl lower,as concerns about the world economy compounded the effects of the upcoming seasonal fall in consumption.Nymex WTI slid to a five-week intra-day low of 70.50/bl,more than 8/bl below the record 78.77/bl reached a week earlier.Ice Brent slipped to an intra-day low below 70/bl for the first time since June.
