Lower exports threaten US supply

Falling Russian gasoil exports are contributing to record-high prices on both sides of the Atlantic.But it is the US,rather than the short-haul European market,that is being hit hardest by the loss of supply.Gasoil exports from me Baltic Sea have fallen from a peak of over 560,000 b/d in me first quarter of 2003 to barely 440,000 b/d last quarter.The fall in exports reflects growing Russian demand,higher domestic prices and a hike in export taxes.
